West Ham United assistant manager Neil McDonald has admitted that his side are interested in signing Andy Carroll.
Speculation surrounding the Liverpool striker has intensified over the past few days, and Reds boss Brendan Rodgers said that he was open to the idea of the England forward going out on loan.
"Of course West Ham would be interested in Andy Carroll," McDonald told talkSPORT. "I very much doubt he will be available [for loan] as he's a Liverpool player though.
"We're looking to strengthen in all areas and the board are working very hard to bring in some new faces into the squad.
"The manager and the board are working hard behind the scenes. They've already signed Jussi Jaaskelainen and Mohamed Diame. It's always two or three weeks into pre-season that you get the next couple of signings. Hopefully their work behind the scenes can be fruitful."
Carroll signed for Liverpool from Newcastle United in January 2011.
