Liverpool are reportedly contemplating a move for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria.
The 24-year-old has struggled to hit top form this season due to a knee injury he recovered from in November, but he has proved his importance to the Monchengladbach since his arrival in 2017.
However, Zakaria now has less than 18 months left to run on his current deal with the Champions League challengers and is understood to have rejected the club's offer of a new contract.
As a result, German outlet Bild claims that Zakaria is now likely to head for the exit door this summer, and Liverpool are one of several sides who hold an interest in the Switzerland international.
The Premier League champions are at risk of losing Georginio Wijnaldum at the end of the season, but in order to land Zakaria, they will reportedly have to beat Atletico Madrid and Manchester City to his signature.
Monchengladbach confirmed the signing of 19-year-old Toulouse midfielder Kouadio Kone in January, potentially paving the way for Zakaria's exit in the summer.
