Liverpool are not prepared to meet Mohamed Salah's salary demands on a new contract, according to a report.

Liverpool are reportedly not prepared to meet Mohamed Salah's contract demands, leading to a standoff between the two parties.

The 29-year-old has been in excellent form for the Reds during the 2021-22 campaign, scoring 23 times and registering nine assists in 26 appearances in all competitions.

Salah has entered the final 18 months of his contract at Anfield, though, and there has recently been speculation surrounding the attacker's future.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp recently said that he was "very positive" about the club's chances of agreeing a new deal with the Egypt international in the near future.

However, according to The Telegraph, Liverpool are not currently prepared to meet Salah's salary demands, which has thrown his future into doubt.

The forward, who is currently in action for his country at the Africa Cup of Nations, has scored 148 goals and registered 56 assists in 229 appearances for the Reds since arriving from Roma in July 2017.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are both believed to be long-term admirers of the former Basel youngster.
