Barcelona attacker Alexis Sanchez emerges as a reported transfer target for Liverpool.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is reportedly preparing an ambitious swoop for Barcelona attacker Alexis Sanchez.

The Reds have scored just nine goals in seven Premier League games thus far this season, leading to suggestions that Rodgers could seek reinforcements in January.

According to reports in Spain, Sanchez has emerged as the club's top transfer target, although it is not yet clear whether Barcelona would be prepared to sell.

The Chilean scored 15 goals in his debut season for the Catalan club, but he has started just three of the club's seven league matches this season.

Sanchez has scored just once in nine matches this season.
