Liverpool are reportedly ready to make a £27m move for Barcelona winger Alexis Sanchez this summer after being impressed with his performance for Chile in their World Cup opener against Australia.
According to Metro, the Merseyside club had scouts in Cuiaba on Friday night to watch Sanchez score one goal and set up another as the South Americans won 3-1 against the Socceroos, a performance that has led to manager Brendan Rodgers wanting to bid for the winger.
Reports in Spain suggest that the Catalan giants may be willing to let Sanchez leave if they can recoup a reasonable fee, as they are looking to rebuild their squad under the stewardship of new manager Luis Enrique.
Manchester United are also thought to be keen on the Chilean attacker, but Sanchez is said to be unwilling to move to a club who are not playing Champions League football next season.
Liverpool are rumoured to be looking for two world-class additions to their own side as they plot a return to Europe's premier club competition as well as another shot at the Premier League crown.
