Feyenoord's sporting director Martin van Geel reveals that the Dutch club would "love" to see Dirk Kuyt back at the club.

Feyenoord sporting director Martin van Geel has admitted that the Dutch club would "love" to see Dirk Kuyt return.

Dutch international Kuyt left Feyenoord in 2006 to join Premier League side Liverpool.

A lack of starting opportunities at Anfield this season has led Kuyt to consider his future and Van Geel has insisted that the 31-year-old would always be welcome back De Kuip.

"I would love to welcome Dirk at Feyenoord as soon as possible. He fits in here more than anybody else," Van Geel told NUsport.

"He is more than welcome at the club. However, I do not think that it's realistic to believe that he could return this summer."

Kuyt scored 83 goals during a three-year spell with Feyenoord.
