Roy Evans: 'Raheem Sterling sale a done deal'

Former Liverpool manager Roy Evans believes that the Reds have already agreed to sell Raheem Sterling in order to fund their summer purchases.

Former Liverpool manager Roy Evans has claimed that the Reds have already agreed to sell Raheem Sterling.

The 20-year-old winger is said to be on his way out of Anfield following a series of failed contract talks, with Manchester City reportedly keen to acquire his services.

Brendan Rodgers has already brought six new players to Liverpool this year, with another three supposedly on the way, and Evans believes that these purchases have been partly funded by the sale of Sterling.

The 66-year-old is quoted by the Daily Star as saying: "If you look at the transfer market and the way it has been with the amount of players Liverpool have bought, [Sterling's sale] must be in the equation.

"I don't think they would be spending the amount of money they have if they didn't think Sterling was already a done deal to somewhere."

Liverpool finished sixth in the Premier League last season.
