Jose Enrique: 'I want to stay at Liverpool'

Liverpool left-back Jose Enrique says that he wants to stay at the club despite reported interest from West Bromwich Albion.

Liverpool defender Jose Enrique has said that he wants to stay and fight for his place at Liverpool despite his recent lack of game time at the club.

The 29-year-old started just 14 Premier League games for Liverpool in the last two seasons and was left out of Brendan Rodgers's squad for the game against Stoke City last weekend.

However, the Spaniard insists that he wants to stay at Anfield and fight for his place despite being linked with a move away from the club.

Enrique told Marca: "I have a year of contract left and I imagine that the club will want to sell, but I still have the idea of staying.

"I will not give up. I am perfect after two years with knee discomfort. In addition Liverpool has only one other pure left-back and I know that if I stay, I'll play. I want to prove that some are wrong."

Enrique has recently been linked with a loan move to West Bromwich Albion.
