RB Leipzig midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai is reportedly set to undergo the first part of his Liverpool medical over the next couple of days ahead of his arrival from Die Roten Bullen.
The Reds have moved quickly to trigger the €70m (£60.2m) release clause in Szoboszlai's Leipzig deal, which would have expired at the end of June.
Despite reports of interest from Newcastle United, Liverpool emerged as the frontrunners to sign the Hungary international as Jurgen Klopp's midfield refresh gathers pace.
According to The Athletic, Szoboszlai has now been given the thumbs-up by his current club to travel to Anfield for a medical, which is set to take place this weekend.
Liverpool jumped to the head of the queue for Szoboszlai after Newcastle supposedly withdrew their interest, and the 22-year-old is believed to be keen on the move to the Premier League.

Liverpool and Leipzig have already shaken hands on one transfer during the current window, with Portuguese attacker Fabio Carvalho swapping Anfield for the Red Bull Arena on a season-long loan.
Szoboszlai's move to Merseyside is not thought to be related to Carvalho's move, and the former Red Bull Salzburg starlet fills Klopp's quota for an attack-minded midfielder.
The Hungarian lynchpin burst onto the scene with Salzburg and was strongly linked with a move to Arsenal before Leipzig struck a €22m (£18.9m) deal to bring him to the Bundesliga.
Szoboszlai has since come up with 20 goals and 22 assists in 91 appearances for Leipzig in all tournaments, hitting double figures in both goals and assists for the 2022-23 season.
As well as winning a second successive DFB-Pokal crown, Szoboszlai hit 10 goals and 13 assists from 46 matches domestically and continentally, while he has seven goals in 32 games for Hungary.

Szoboszlai has also proven to be competent in an array of positions, being deployed as a number 10, number eight, right winger and left winger during the early years of his career.
Liverpool were originally thought to be pushing for a deal for Chelsea's Mason Mount, but the England international is now closing in on a £60m move to Manchester United.
Barring any last-minute roadblocks, Szoboszlai is set to become the Reds' second signing of the summer window after the £35m arrival of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton & Hove Albion.
Liverpool have prioritised midfield acquisitions this summer following the departures of Naby Keita, Arthur, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner, as well as Al-Ahli-bound attacker Roberto Firmino.
Nice's Khephren Thuram is still believed to be on Liverpool's radar, while a new centre-back could also arrive at Anfield before the window slams shut.
