Napoli coach Rafael Benitez is reportedly looking to add Barcelona midfielder Javier Mascherano to his squad.
The Spanish tactician signed Mascherano during his time at Liverpool and wants to work with him again at Stadio San Paolo, according to Football-Espana.net.
Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis recently confirmed that the newly-appointed coach is in the market for a defensive midfielder.
"Benitez's formation will also require a midfielder, so we are looking for an important figure in the middle," De Laurentiis told Radio Marte.
It is believed that the Argentina international tops Benitez's shopping list and the former Inter Milan and Chelsea manager will bid around €20m (£17m) for the player.
Benitez was announced as Napoli boss last month.
