Liverpool to replace Brendan Rodgers with Carlo Ancelotti?

Liverpool have identified Carlo Ancelotti as their next manager, according to a report.

Liverpool are reportedly looking to appoint Carlo Ancelotti as their next manager.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has come under pressure following his side's slow start to the season, which sees them sitting 13th in the Premier League table.

Liverpool spent £67m to bring the likes of Christian Benteke, Roberto Firmino and Nathaniel Clyne to Merseyside, but it is thought that the club's hierarchy are losing patience with Rodgers.

Ancelotti has been out of work since being sacked by Real Madrid in May. The Italian has previous Premier League experience, having won the league and FA Cup during a two-year spell in charge of Chelsea between 2009 and 2011.

According to Calciomercato, Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group will give Rodgers a handful of games to save his job, but they have already begun talks with Ancelotti's representatives about taking charge at Anfield.

Ancelotti has previously managed Juventus, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.
