Danny Ings keen to help under-fire Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers

Liverpool striker Danny Ings calls on his teammates to ease the pressure on under-fire manager Brendan Rodgers by beating Aston Villa.

Danny Ings has called on his Liverpool teammates to beat Aston Villa on Saturday and ease the pressure on under-fire manager Brendan Rodgers.

The Reds have not managed a Premier League win since the second week of the season, and Rodgers's side were taken to penalties by League Two outfit Carlisle United in Wednesday's narrow League Cup win at Anfield.

Liverpool's owners Fenway Sports Group are reportedly divided over whether the Northern Irishman should be sacked, but Ings believes that the Merseysiders are on the brink of turning a corner.

"It is important that we get wins under our belt for him and for us so we can move forward," the former Burnley striker is quoted as saying by The Mirror.

"All you need to look at is the chances we are creating. You can just sense there is a big result around the corner.

"I can certainly feel it playing in the side and I am sure the lads feel the same as well. I think things are going to turn for us now."

Ex-Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp is said to be keen on managing a Premier League side, amid speculation linking him with replacing Rodgers.
