Peter Schmeichel upset with new Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp over title vow

Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel feels that new Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp may have already made his "first mistake" in promising to win Premier League.

Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel has warned new Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp not to make promises that he cannot keep after vowing to win the Premier League title.

Klopp was unveiled to the media on Friday after replacing Brendan Rodgers at Anfield, with the German claiming that he is "pretty confident" of delivering the biggest prize in English football during his stay.

Schmeichel, who won the title eight times with the Red Devils, took exception to the claim and believes that the ex-Borussia Dortmund coach may have already made his "first mistake".

The goalkeeper wrote on Twitter: "First mistake? Others have made the same promise. It's not that easy Mr Klopp."

The 48-year-old, who signed a three-year deal on Merseyside, won two Bundesliga crowns and a DFB-Pokal title during his seven-year stay with Dortmund.
