Brendan Rodgers has no fears of squad disruption ahead of Mario Balotelli move

Ahead of Mario Balotelli's reported move to Liverpool, Brendan Rodgers insists that he would not sign a player who he believes would cause trouble within the squad.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted that he would not sign a player who carries a disruptive influence, ahead of Mario Balotelli's impending move to Anfield.

The 24-year-old is due to join the Reds from AC Milan after both parties agreed a £16m fee for the controversial Italian.

For some, the transfer has been met with some trepidation due to the striker's previous issues on and off the field following stints at Inter Milan and Manchester City.

"No player would come into here if I felt it couldn't work," Rodgers said in this afternoon's press conference. "If I can help the person, then it's something I will look at too.

"People who know me well will tell you I look to try and develop the player and the person. Thankfully we have that culture here. I've shown before that as long as players care and want to learn, we can give them the opportunity to develop."

Balotelli is reportedly due to undergo a medical in Manchester today before agreeing a contract, which is said to include behaviour clauses.
