Brendan Rodgers hails "outstanding" Danny Ings despite Norwich City stalemate

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers singles out striker Danny Ings for praise after his goal in the 1-1 draw with Norwich City at Anfield.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has paid tribute to the "outstanding" Danny Ings for his impact in this evening's 1-1 draw with Norwich City at Anfield.

The striker came off the bench at half time to open the scoring three minutes into the second period, before Russell Martin's leveller compounded a frustrating day for the Reds.

Nevertheless, it was Ings's first goal for Liverpool following a Bosman switch in the summer, and Rodgers says that the former Burnley hitman was certainly one of the few positives.

"Danny Ings was outstanding when he came on. His pressing and his ability was there to see and it was important that we got the first goal," he told reporters.

"It was an excellent goal but then we lost concentration on a set piece which was not so good on our part.

"I think we created enough chances to win the game, so that disappoints. But the most disappointing factor was the goal."

Rodgers's side sit 13th in the Premier League table having failed to pick up a win since the second week of the season.
