Michael Owen: 'It feels strange playing against Liverpool'

Stoke City striker Michael Owen admits that he has not enjoyed playing against Liverpool since leaving the club in 2004.

Stoke City striker Michael Owen has revealed that it is still a "strange feeling" when he walks out for a team against his former club Liverpool.

The 33-year-old scored 118 goals at Anfield before he left the club for Real Madrid in 2004 and despite acknowledging that he enjoyed his time on Merseyside, he has revealed that it has not been the case when he has been on the opposite team.

Owen told Independent Sports News: "It is a strange feeling really playing against your old club, especially one where you were for around 15 years.

"Liverpool are a big part of my life and career and I had some of the best times of my life at the club.

"So certainly I have happy memories. I have not been so happy playing against them since; I have never scored and not particularly enjoyed it."

Owen could make his return from injury against Liverpool on Boxing Day.
