Liverpool captain James Milner has praised his teammates after collecting an "important win" over Swansea City on Sunday afternoon.
Milner's penalty was the difference in difficult conditions at Anfield, and the midfielder has since insisted that the three points were crucial, as the Reds aimed to build from an impressive victory over Manchester City last time out in the Premier League.
"It wasn't the prettiest of games. It was important to win," said Milner, according to BBC Sport.
"The win last week against Manchester City would have been a waste if we had not won. It was tough conditions for the match. I don't think it was ever going to be the best game to watch and it was all about getting the points.
"It was brilliant to see them [Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge] out there as they are big misses when they are out. There is a long way to go but shows what a few wins can do."
The victory over Garry Monk's charges presented Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp with his first league victory at Anfield.
