Gary McAllister backs Liverpool for top-four return next season

Gary McAllister believes that Liverpool will be able to return to the top four of the Premier League next season with a number of quality signings.

Gary McAllister has backed Brendan Rodgers to guide Liverpool back into the top four of the Premier League next season.

The Reds had a disappointing campaign where they finished in sixth place as they were unable to mount another challenge for the title following the sale of Luis Suarez.

However, McAllister is confident that if Rodgers brings in more quality to the club, there is no reason why they shouldn't qualify for a place in the Champions League.

He told the Liverpool Echo: "[Other teams] will strengthen so that puts the pressure on Brendan to get back in there.

"But you go back two seasons and Liverpool were inches away from actually being champions. So with the right additions I think Liverpool can get into that top four."

The Scot has also praised Liverpool's addition of James Milner this summer.
