New Liverpool signing Lazar Markovic has revealed that he is looking forward to playing alongside captain Steven Gerrard next season.
The Serbian youngster was unveiled on Tuesday after completing his £20m move from Benfica, and the winger is excited about the prospect of teaming with the Reds skipper.
He told the club's official website: "I could not favour any one of [the squad]. They are all equally good, but maybe the captain, Gerrard, as he is the team's leader.
"I am very happy that I have joined such a great club. I hope that I will fulfil the expectations of the supporters, coaches, players and all connected to the club."
The Reds have splashed out around £60m already this summer following the arrivals of Markovic, Emre Can, Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana.
