Jurgen Klopp's agent Marc Kosicke plays down speculation linking the Liverpool boss with Germany's vacant managerial position.

Jurgen Klopp's agent Marc Kosicke has played down speculation that the Liverpool boss could become the new manager of the German national team.

Germany are currently without a permanent head coach after Hansi Flick was sacked following Saturday's 4-1 friendly defeat to Japan.

The former Bayern Munich boss was relieved of his duties after winning just four of his final 17 matches in charge of die Mannschaft.

Rudi Voller was placed in temporary charge for Tuesday's friendly with France in Dortmund, where goals from Thomas Muller and Leroy Sane guided Germany to a 2-1 victory.

With the players set to return to their club following the international period, the DFB will now turn their full attention to the search for a new manager.

With Germany set to host Euro 2024 next summer, they will be keen to find Flick's replacement sooner rather than later, especially with more international fixtures set to take place in October and November.

A recent report suggested that Klopp features on an eight-man shortlist, with the Liverpool boss regarded as Germany's 'dream' candidate.

However, Klopp's agent has poured cold water over speculation that his client could be named the new head coach of the German national side.

Speaking to Sportschau on Tuesday evening, Kosicke said: "Jurgen has a long-term contract with LFC and is not available for the national coaching position."

Klopp, who was named Liverpool manager in 2015, still has three years to run on his current deal with the Merseyside club.

During his time with the Reds, Klopp has helped the club win the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, EFL Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup and the Community Shield.

The 56-year-old's current focus will be on Saturday's Premier League away fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Liverpool will be looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the season after picking up 10 points from their first four games.
