Jurgen Klopp admits that he "was not relaxed" when giving his post-match television interviews following the 1-1 draw with Everton, but defends his conduct.

Jurgen Klopp has defended his fiery interview following Liverpool's meeting with Everton at the weekend, claiming that he "cannot act differently" in the heat of the moment.

The Reds boss was frustrated by a penalty call that went against his side on Sunday afternoon, as Wayne Rooney was gifted the chance to rescue a 1-1 draw for the Toffees.

Klopp had a run-in with a Sky Sports reporter shortly after the full-time whistle sounded, arguing against referee Craig Pawson's decision to penalise Dejan Lovren for his challenge on Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Speaking two days on from the incident, however, the German coach attempted to play down the issue and says that he does not regret his choice of words.

"Would I give the same interview now? I think the information I had to give would be the same," he told reporters. "But of course, now I'm completely relaxed. It was five minutes after the game so I was not relaxed.

"I didn't use any words that I have to take back or whatever, I don't like it but I'm pretty sure I cannot change it because I felt it and I felt like this in that moment.

"I'm not an actor, so I cannot act differently. Meanwhile, I can keep myself that calm that nothing serious happens in situations like this. It's just an interview. I don't think that anybody really remembers it and looks back and thinks 'it was hilarious'.

Liverpool return to action on Wednesday evening with a home match against strugglers West Bromwich Albion.
