Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has labelled Harvey Elliott a "sensational" talent following his impressive pre-season campaign.
The former Fulham youngster was handed bountiful opportunities during the Reds' summer of exhibition matches and caught the eye with his energetic displays in the engine room.
The Reds are yet to sign a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum following his departure on a free transfer, but Klopp is confident that Elliott can prove his worth to the club in the 2021-22 season.
When asked if Elliott would be integrated into the first team ahead of Saturday's Premier League opener with Norwich City, Klopp said: "That's the plan. He showed up in an exceptional way.
"He brings a different dimension into the game, dribbling, top passing range. He played a top pre-season. You have to keep these spaces open for these sensational young talents. We need to show that we are a club that gives these kinds of opportunities to these boys."
Ahead of the trip to Carrow Road, Klopp also expressed his delight at the "absolutely great news" of Virgil van Dijk's contract extension until the summer of 2025.
