West Bromwich Albion defender Ahmed Hegazi avoids FA charge for Danny Ings clash

West Bromwich Albion defender Ahmed Hegazi will not face any retrospective action from the Football Association, despite appearing to punch Liverpool forward Danny Ings.

West Bromwich Albion defender Ahmed Hegazi had avoided a charge from the Football Association for his part in an incident involving Liverpool forward Danny Ings.

During the second half of the Premier League fixture at The Hawthorns, the two players challenged for the ball before Hegazi appeared to punch Ings in the stomach while the striker was on the ground.

On Monday, the incident was reviewed by an independent panel of three referees, but at least one of the trio decided that no further action should be taken.

The Egyptian international will now be able to feature in West Brom's remaining fixtures against Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace respectively.

Earlier in the match, Ings was also denied a potential spot kick, with former top-flight official Dermot Gallagher claiming that the Englishman had been fouled by Craig Dawson.
