Andy Gray believes that it will take time for Brendan Rodgers to be a success at Anfield.

Former Scotland international Andy Gray believes that Liverpool have taken a big risk in appointing Brendan Rodgers as the new manager at Anfield.

The former Swansea City coach signed on the dotted line last week to become Liverpool's boss for the next three years of his career.

"It's a risk for Liverpool," Gray told talkSPORT. "It's a situation where they have to give him time. What he did with Swansea was fantastic, he did really well last year.

"He handled himself brilliantly. How he gets on at a club like Liverpool remains to be seen. He's gone a long way in stamping his authority with the owners by going against their plans. They were very much into a 'director of football' but that doesn't look like it's going to happen now."

Meanwhile, Gylfi Sigurdsson, who was due to join the Swans on a permanent deal, has hinted that he may join the Reds after Rodgers left the Liberty Stadium.
