Brendan Rodgers wants place in Liverpool history

New Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers sets his sights on writing his name in the Anfield history books like predecessor Kenny Dalglish.

New Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has said that he wants to write his name into the illustrious history of the club, like predecessor Kenny Dalglish.

The Northern Irishman, 39, was announced as the club's new manager on Friday and he is hoping to follow Dalglish in becoming an Anfield legend.

He told the club's website: "Hopefully, in time, people will look back at what I have achieved and I can walk beside these people (club legends)."

He added that "[his] door is always open" for Dalglish.

"This is his home," Rodgers added. "As chairman Tom Werner said, he is the heart and soul of this club.

"There is no way I can try and overtake someone like Kenny. His love for this club is unrivalled. He is the best player in the history of this club."

Rodgers has already done his first piece of business at Liverpool by allowing Dirk Kuyt to leave for Fenerbahce.
