Steven Gerrard keen to end Liverpool career with a trophy

Steven Gerrard admits that winning a trophy in his final season at Liverpool would mean more to him than finishing in the top four of the Premier League.

Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard has admitted that he would love to end his 17-year spell at Anfield by lifting the FA Cup trophy at Wembley.

The 34-year-old announced yesterday that he will leave the club at the end of the season, before revealing that he intends to join a side in the United States.

Gerrard is hopeful that he can still make an impact at Liverpool in his remaining time, though, starting with Monday night's FA Cup third-round tie against AFC Wimbledon at Kingsmeadow.

"There's still a bit to go and I'd love nothing better than to walk around Wembley or a big stadium at the end of the season with a trophy for [the fans]," he told LFCTV.

"We've still got a chance of finishing in the top four and that's the most important thing for the club, for obvious reasons. But from a selfish point of view, it's always a trophy and it's always medals, for me."

Gerrard joined the Reds as an eight-year-old, going on to make 695 appearances for the Merseyside outfit.
