Former Liverpool trio return to Anfield in coaching roles

Former Liverpool trio Robbie Fowler, Steve McManaman and Rob Jones are given part-time coaching roles within the club's academy.

Former Liverpool trio Robbie Fowler, Steve McManaman and Rob Jones have returned to Anfield in a bid to help develop the club's youngsters.

Manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he asked the ex-players to come back to the Merseyside outfit on part-time coaching positions with the Under-21 and Under-18 sides.

"It's great to have Robbie, Steve and Rob on board," Rodgers told the Liverpool Echo. "I said at the end of last season that I wanted to get more former players involved and over the off-season I spoke to a number of them about a possible role here."

Meanwhile, the senior team, who are currently second in the Premier League table, are due to take on Crystal Palace on Saturday.
