Charlton Athletic are reportedly due a £250,000 payment from Liverpool if Joe Gomez starts a game for the England senior side.

Liverpool are reportedly obligated to pay Charlton Athletic a fee of £250,000 should Joe Gomez start for the England senior side.

In June 2015, Liverpool spent £3.5m to sign Gomez from the Addicks, and the defender has since gone on to make 22 appearances for the Merseyside giants.

However, according to the Daily Mail, Charlton will receive a further windfall should Gomez make his first start for the Three Lions in either the friendly against Germany on Friday or Brazil next Tuesday.

Last week, the 20-year-old was handed his first call-up by boss Gareth Southgate, who has previously worked with the versatile player with England Under-21s.

Southgate has suggested that he intends to 'experiment' during the two fixtures at Wembley Stadium, with fellow newcomer Ruben Loftus-Cheek rumoured to be given an immediate bow in international football.
