Christian Benteke to miss Aston Villa friendly ahead of reported Liverpool move?

Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke will reportedly miss his side's friendly clash with Sporting Braga as a proposed move to Liverpool gathers pace.

Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke will reportedly sit out of the club's pre-season clash with Sporting Braga ahead of his proposed move to Liverpool.

A number of reports in the press have suggested that Brendan Rodgers is soon to confirm the capture of the striker after triggering a £32m release clause in the frontman's contract.

According to The Mirror, Benteke may now have played his last game in a Villa shirt as Tim Sherwood is preparing to leave his name out of the squad when they play in Portugal on Friday.

Benteke has notched 42 goals in 88 appearances since joining Villa in 2012.
