Former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez says he wants to have the chance to compete in the Champions League in his next job.

Former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has said that he is waiting for the right job offer to come along before he returns to management.

The Spaniard left his post at Inter Milan in December and has stated that a return to the Premier League is a priority.

"I want someone that can give me a project to win the Champions League again, to win the Premier League,'' he told Sky Sports News. "The option to fight and to improve a team, but to have the possibility to challenge."

"I have had some offers in Asia, in Russia, in South America. 'You always talk about big money not in this country but my priority is in Europe - the Premier League was the first idea.''

The 51-year-old also said that a role in international management was an option, again naming England and Spain as the preference.

He added: "Yes, why not? Everyone is asking you in Spain 'Do you want to be the manager in the future?' And in England now everybody is talking about the position of Capello."

Benitez spent six years at Anfield, winning the Champions League with the Reds in 2005.
