Joe Allen: 'Liverpool must stay grounded'

Joe Allen urges his Liverpool teammates to remain grounded as the Reds close in on the Premier League title.

Joe Allen has urged his Liverpool teammates to remain grounded as the Reds close in on the Premier League title.

Brendan Rodgers's men capitalised on Chelsea's shock defeat to Sunderland on Saturday by moving five points clear of the Blues with a 3-2 victory at Norwich City today.

Consequently, the Merseyside outfit also secured their passage into next season's Champions League, but Allen has stressed the need for caution in the remaining three games as the club look to end a 24-year wait for the league title.

"It's an incredible achievement to bring Champions League football back to Liverpool. This club deserves to be in that competition," he told reporters at full time.

"We will not take anything for granted, every game is big game and we need to make sure we put in another big performance next week."

Liverpool host Chelsea at Anfield next week knowing that a victory would end the West Londoners' involvement in the title race this season.
