Daniel Agger: Liverpool "definitely" need to beat Hull City

Daniel Agger says that a Liverpool win against Hull City on New Year's Day is imperative.

Liverpool defender Daniel Agger has claimed that the Reds "definitely have to get the three points" when they entertain Hull City on New Year's Day.

Brendan Rodgers's side were top of the Premier League on Christmas Day but have slipped to fifth after back-to-back defeats away to Manchester City and Chelsea, and the Dane has said that a win against the Tigers is imperative.

"We have the Hull game to focus on and we definitely have to get the three points," Agger told the Liverpool Echo.

"The home form has been very good this season and that is something we have to carry on. It is so important to what we want to achieve this season that we have a good record at home.

"Hull are a great team. We lost there not so long ago so we know they are a dangerous team."

Agger could come back into his preferred position of centre-back against the Tigers, due to Mamadou Sakho's injury.
