Liverpool moved back to the top of the table but lost their 100% record this evening courtesy of a 2-2 draw with Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.
The hosts made a blistering start to the match as Jonjo Shelvey gave them the lead against his former club inside two minutes.
Shelvey turned from hero to villain moments later, however, selling Michel Vorm short with a backpass that allowed Daniel Sturridge to steal in and equalise.
Shelvey gave the ball away again for Liverpool's second, and this time it was Victor Moses who took full advantage to fire a debut goal in from the edge of the box.
Swansea cranked up the pressure in the second half, and again Shelvey was involved in their eventual equaliser. The midfielder nodded the ball into the path of Michu, who swept a shot past Simon Mignolet to claim his first goal of the season.

Good evening! Thank you very much for joining Sports Mole for tonight's Premier League encounter between Swansea City and Liverpool at the Liberty Stadium. Let's get straight down to business.
Our hosts tonight have not enjoyed a perfect start to the season by any means, but things are looking up for Michael Laudrup's side after they got their first points on the board in their last outing. That came courtesy of a 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion before the international break, and they will be hoping that any momentum gained from that result will have carried on until tonight.
In fairness to the Swans, they have not had an easy start to the season. Their opening game of the league campaign saw them pitted against a Manchester United side with a point to prove under new manager David Moyes, and the Red Devils certainly went about proving that point at the Liberty Stadium as they ran out 4-1 winners. Their next match saw them take on a much-fancied Tottenham side, who needed a penalty to edge a 1-0 victory.
Outside of domestic football, though, things have gone very well for Swansea. They took full advantage of their qualification for the Europa League by virtue of winning the League Cup, cruising into the group stages. They first had to get past Malmo, but the Swedish side were comfortably dispatched 4-0 on aggregate, while Petrolul Ploiesti also didn't put up too much of a fight over two legs, losing 6-3 on aggregate. Swansea will play their first game in the group stages later this week when they face Valencia.
With one eye on that match, it was thought that Laudrup may be considering naming a slightly weakened side this evening. That isn't the case, however, and the Danish boss has left fans in no doubt that he is unwilling to sacrifice league points for a potential win in Europe with his team selection tonight.
After such a tough start, it is perhaps unsurprising that Swansea come into today's game way down the table. In fact, they are currently in the relegation zone, sitting 18th having picked up three points from three games. Due to it being so early in the season, though, a win today could catapult them up to as high as ninth, although goal difference means that they would likely finish the day 10th should they claim all three points.
One thing that Swansea will have to address if they want to win tonight is their recent home form. The Liberty Stadium is renowned as a tough ground to go to, but recently it has lost some of its mystique. United are the only English side to have visited so far this season and they won 4-1. Stretching back to last season, the Swans have not won any of their last six matches in front of their own fans, picking up just two points in that time.
In fact, the Liberty Stadium hasn't exactly been a fortress for the Swans for a while - they managed just six wins in front of their own fans throughout last season's Premier League campaign. It is, of course, still a tough place to go considering the quality of the current Swansea side, but the trip across to Wales is becoming less daunting for oppositions teams.
Few men will be less daunted making the journey than Brendan Rodgers, who will return to his former club tonight. He was largely responsible for creating that mystique around Swansea's home games and will be letting his new side know what to look out for in Wales this evening.
Rodgers certainly left a memorable legacy at Swansea, and he is aiming to build another one at Liverpool. He has started well enough in the current campaign, leading his side to three wins from their opening three games, all by the scoreline of 1-0 and all courtesy of Daniel Sturridge winners. No top-flight team had ever won their opening three games 1-0 courtesy of the same goalscorer in English football before Liverpool this season.
The Reds began with a 1-0 win over Stoke City, although goalkeeper Simon Mignolet is as responsible for that result as Sturridge was, saving a late penalty from the visitors. They also edged past Aston Villa before being taken to extra time by Notts County in the League Cup, only to end up winning 4-2.
The result that will give Liverpool the most satisfaction so far, however, will have come from their most recent outing. They maintained their 100% record with a narrow win over fierce rivals Manchester United courtesy of Sturridge's early header.
Those three consecutive wins ensured that Liverpool got off to their best start to a season since 1994-95, while Sturridge also became the first man since Robbie Fowler in that same season to score in the Reds' opening three matches. A win today would make it their best start since they were last defending champions, way back in 1990-91. That season they won their opening eight league matches. However, in all of their illustrious history, Liverpool had never won their opening three games without conceding a goal until the current campaign.
The Reds come into this match third in the table following wins for both Arsenal and Tottenham at the weekend, but avoiding defeat this evening would see the Merseyside club leapfrog the North London duo and return to the summit of the Premier League table at this early stage of the season.
Aside from the obvious desire to keep their 100% record alive, there are a couple of other reasons why Liverpool may strive for a win tonight. It would be their 400th win in the Premier League and it is also Steven Gerrard's 400th match as captain of the club - a marvellous milestone for a bona-fide legend.
TEAM NEWS: Right, the team news is in from both sides, and the headlines are all coming from the visitors. Mamadou Sakho and Victor Moses, who both joined the club on deadline day, will make their debuts, but there is no place in the squad for the third signing of that day Tiago Ilori. Daniel Sturridge is named up front having recovered from the thigh injury that ruled him out of international duty, while Andre Wisdom comes in for the injured Glen Johnson. For Swansea, Wilfried Bony starts up front with Michu just behind him, and Jonjo Shelvey will start against his former club for the first time since his summer move. Full team news coming right up.

So, what can we make of those two sides? Well, starting with Swansea, they certainly have enough firepower to become the first side to score past Liverpool in the league this season. Bony arrived in England with a fearsome goalscoring reputation and, although he hasn't quite lived up to that so far, he will be keen to silence any doubters tonight. Michu, meanwhile, showed his undoubted quality throughout last season and is capable of coming up with a moment of magic at any time.
Behind them, Shelvey may go into this game with a point to prove against his former club. He left Anfield to find regular first team football, and Swansea are willing to give him that. He has shown flashes of his huge potential during his short Swansea career so far, and a good performance against his idol Steven Gerrard tonight would certainly go some way to enhancing his growing reputation even further.
In Michel Vorm they have one of the most solid keepers in the league, while Ashley Williams is one of the most underrated defenders in the league. It was no coincidence that so many top clubs were looking at him during the summer, and Sturridge, Moses and Coutinho will not have an easy time against him and Chico Flores tonight.
Speaking of that trio, they are the men that Liverpool will be looking towards to provide their main goal threat this evening. They are still without Luis Suarez, who is serving the penultimate game of his ban today, but the Uruguayan may find it hard to get back into the side the way Sturridge is performing. Five goals in four competitive games so far this season is a phenomenal record, and he will want to improve that even further tonight. Coutinho has the ability to lock any defence, while Moses will be desperate to prove himself - much like Sturridge has done - now that he may be given a regular starting berth.
The midfield of Lucas, Gerrard and Henderson is looking increasingly solid for Liverpool. There was a time not long ago that Henderson would have been viewed as a major weak link in the lineup, but he has started to show signs of improvement recently.
It is interesting that Rodgers has given Sakho the nod in defence today. There has been great excitement surrounding his signing amongst Liverpool fans, but the pre-match talk seemed to be all about who would partner Daniel Agger in defence. Instead, the Dane is left out all together and Martin Skrtel, who was out of favour until his man of the match display against United two weeks ago, retains his place. Mignolet in goal has made a brilliant start to life as a Liverpool player, and he will be desperate for a fourth consecutive clean sheet this evening.
Looking at the benches of either side, the man Swansea fans will be excited to see if Alvaro Vazquez. He was one of the quieter signings on transfer deadline day, but the former Getafe striker adds to Laudrup's already Spanish-laden squad and could prove to be a very useful back-up for Bony and Michu. As for Liverpool, Toure is deemed fit enough for the bench having recovered from injury, while Aspas loses his starting spot to Moses. It is a relatively young bench with the likes of Sterling, Ibe and Alberto on it, but they are the types of players who can come on and change a game with their youthful exuberance.
PREDICTION: We have 10 minutes to go until kickoff at the Liberty Stadium, which can mean only one thing - time for a match prediction! This one is quite tough to predict given Swansea's home advantage and the question over how both teams will respond to the international break. Liverpool's good form going into this one may count for nothing due to that break, but then the same would apply to any momentum Swansea picked up from the opening day win. Overall, I think Liverpool will be able to continue their 100% start to the season this evening, and I'm going to go for a 2-1 win to the visitors.
Last season the corresponding fixture ended in a goalless draw, but both sides experienced better results in other matches between the two that year. The Swans won a League Cup tie 3-1, while Liverpool thrashed Laudrup's side 5-0 the last time they met, with goals coming from Gerrard, Coutinho, Enrique, Suarez and Sturridge.
The last time that Swansea beat Liverpool at home was as recently as 2012, when Danny Graham scored the only goal of the game to give the Swans - then managed by Brendan Rodgers - a 1-0 win.
Overall, these two teams have come up against each other 33 times, with Liverpool winning 16 and Swansea picking up just nine victories. Liverpool are also responsible for inflicting Swansea's joint-worst defeat in their history when they won 8-0 back in 1990.
We're nearing kickoff now to what will be Gerrard's 400th match as captain of Liverpool. What a servant he has been to the club, and it is not a milestone that many players in the history of football have been able to reach. He will no doubt go down in the pantheon of Liverpool's greatest captains alongside the likes of Phil Neal, Emlyn Hughes and Graeme Souness. He may even be the greatest.
There is a good atmosphere inside the Liberty Stadium, and the noise cranks up a few levels as Rodgers walks out. He is still very much liked in this part of the world.

What a way to hit back at your former club that is! Liverpool have conceded their first goal of the new league season within two minutes of this match kicking off. There is an element of luck about the goal as Shelvey mis-hits a shot but regains control and waltzes past Sakho before firing a shot that is well blocked by Skrtel. It falls back to the Swansea man, however, and he slots it past Mignolet.
GOAL! Swansea 1-1 Liverpool (Daniel Sturridge)
Oh my word, moments after giving his side the lead, Shelvey turns from hero to villain with a shocker of a backpass. Sturridge has gambled and remained behind the defence just in case any such pass happens and, when it does, is on it quick as a flash to continue his wonderful scoring form at the start of this season. That's four goals in four league games for the England international now.
Well, what a start to this match. What must Shelvey be thinking right now? He may have had mixed emotions when scoring a goal against his former club to start with, but then to gift them an equaliser two minutes later must have really brought back down to earth with a bang.
It is Liverpool who have responded best to that frenetic start. Coutinho exchanges passes with Henderson before cutting inside and digging a shot out that is comfortable for Vorm to catch. Clever play from the Brazilian, but he was never troubling the Swansea keeper.
If Sakho wanted a nice, slow start to life in English football, this wasn't the right game to make his debut in! He was beaten far too easily for Swansea's goal in truth so he won't be happy with his opening 10 minutes as a Liverpool player.
SAVE! Bony drills a low effort towards goal from around 25 yards out that takes a nick of Sakho on its way through. It is on target and needs a good stop from Mignolet, who holds on to the ball well.
The pace has just settled a little now following that whirlwind start. Liverpool have taken control of the ball and are dictating play at the moment, which is something that Swansea will not be used to given their tendency to play passing football themselves.
Davies gives the ball away in midfield and Gerrard is immediately on to it is a fine first-time ball towards Sturridge. The Liverpool striker cuts back inside with Moses and Coutinho racing up in support, but goes alone only to be pushed out wide and fire it over. Moses cut down Sturridge's options with his choice of run there.
Liverpool have had 60% of possession so far, but a lot of that has come in their own half as Swansea are happy to let them have the ball in such areas.
Play just opens up for Shelvey, who has already had a roller coaster of a game. This one is not one of the better parts as his long range effort goes a long way high and an even longer way over.
Gerrard goes into a hard challenge on Williams and wins the ball, but the ball deflects back off the Swansea man and out for a throw. When the pair walk back past each other, Williams give Gerrard a shove to signal that he wasn't happy with the challenge, but is was a 50/50 and the ball was certainly there to be won.
Wisdom gets his head to a corner but can't direct his effort on target, instead putting it over and wide. He may have been better served leaving that for Sakho, who was waiting behind the England Under-21 captain.
CHANCE! A hint of an opening for Liverpool is thwarted by some good defending. Moses beats his man with ease down the left and races through on goal before cutting the ball back across the edge of the area. It is behind Sturridge, but Henderson is unmarked and sees his shot blocked by Davies. That was a very important interception.
CHANCE! Big chance for Liverpool, and you'd expect Sturridge to bury that in his current form. Moses does brilliantly on the left to find a way past two challenges with very little room to work with. His cross finds Sturridge, who has peeled off his man, but the in-form striker heads it straight at Vorm from close range.
Flores switches the ball to Davies, who is enjoying a fair amount of space on the left flank. He swings a cross in from deep, but it goes towards the smallest man in the box in Dyer, who can't get to it as it goes out for a throw in.
That is almost another huge error from Swansea to gift Liverpool another goal. It is a mix up between Rangel and Vorm that almost allows Moses an open goal, but the hosts just about get away with it and the danger passes.
CHANCE! Lovely football from Swansea's front two and Michu and Bony exchange passes. The Spaniard played a one-two with Bony before adding a third pass to the club's record signing, who fluffed his shot towards the bottom corner. Mignolet is able to get down and make the save, but that passing play was almost akin to Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole!
It has been an entertaining opening half an hour to this match. The match started at a frenetic pace with the two goals inside four minutes and, while it has calmed down since then, it is still being played at a good tempo.
Davies swings another cross in from that left flank, but this one is slightly behind Bony who sends a tough half-volley over the crossbar.
Sakho has made an inauspicious start to his Liverpool career. He has made a few good interceptions and looks dominant in the air, but he also looks a little slow across the ground and has given the ball away on a number of occasions.
GOAL! Swansea 1-2 Liverpool (Victor Moses)
It is a debut goal for Moses, but again Shelvey is to blame for Swansea. He tries a square pass that is easily picked off from Moses on the halfway line. Swansea are left short at the back and Moses takes full advantage, advancing to the edge of the box and driving his shot into the bottom corner with Vorm rooted to the spot. Dream goal for Moses, and another nightmare one for Shelvey.
SAVE! My word, we've almost had a repeat of the earlier dramatics! Moments after going behind, Michu tests Mignolet with a well-struck effort that the Liverpool keeper pushes away.
GREAT DEFENDING! For a man who was so out of favour at the start of the season, Skrtel has certainly provided some vital pieces of defending in the last two games. This is perhaps the most important of the lot as Mignolet parries a weak Dyer effort right into the path of Bony, but Skrtel slides in with a fantastic tackle to deny the Swansea man a simply tap in.
Swansea fans rather ambitiously call for a penalty as Michu goes tumbling over the back of Skrtel during an aerial challenge. In truth, it was the Swansea man who was climbing all over the Liverpool defender, so any whistle from the ref would have gone the other way I'm sure.
Shelvey gives the ball away in a dangerous area yet again, but this time he wins it back moments later. You can tell that he is desperate to make up for the errors that led to both Liverpool goals, but he has to be careful about trying to do too much.
Half chance for Swansea as Bony slides the ball to Michu as Sakho rushes out, dives in and completely misses it. Skrtel is over to cover and make the block, which eventually falls to Rangel who sends his shot/cross wide.
There will be a minimum of two additional minutes at the end of this half.
HALF TIME: Swansea 1-2 Liverpool
Well, what a half of football that was. Jonjo Shelvey is the main protagonist of the story so far having given his side the lead after just two minutes, but then gifted his old club two goals to allow them take a narrow lead into the halfway stage.
The match started at a million miles an hour as Shelvey opened the scoring with Swansea's first attack. He mis-hit a shot on the edge of the area, but quickly took it under control, beat Sakho and then saw another shot blocked by Skrtel. Again the luck was with the midfielder, though, as the ball fell back to him and he slotted it past Mignolet.
That was the first goal that Liverpool had conceded in the league this season, but they bounced straight back and restored parity just two minutes later. Again Shelvey was heavily involved, but this time not in the way he would have hoped. He sent a poor pass back to Vorm, and Sturridge was there waiting to slam his fourth league goal of the season past the Swansea keeper.
It was Shelvey who was to blame for Liverpool's second as well as he once again gave the ball away. This time it wasn't in as dangerous an area, but Swansea were left short at the back and Moses took full advantage. He still had a lot to do, and Moses did very well to finish it, but it was poor for Shelvey again.
Both sides have had plenty of chances so far, and the match is very finely poised ahead of the second half. Both teams look capable of scoring and I would be surprised if we have seen the last of the goals in this one. Swansea are likely to go for it in the second half - they aren't the type of team to sit back while losing - and Liverpool will want a two-goal cushion and could hit them on the break. This one is still very much in the balance.
Liverpool's two debutants have had contrasting fortunes so far in this match. In truth, Sakho was relatively poor in the opening 45 minutes, misplacing a number of passes and getting caught out of position more than once. Shelvey's goal did have an element of luck about it, but Sakho had a chance to clear it initially and then another to tackle the midfielder on the edge of the box, both of which he failed to take.
Moses, on the other hand, has looked bright and took his goal very well. He looks to be a very shrewd signing and, in many ways, a similar one to Sturridge. Moses is only there on a temporary basis, but he still has a point to prove and will be given plenty of chances at Liverpool.
Shelvey is back out on the pitch and he is looking distraught at that first half. He has his arms folded and isn't looking confident whatsoever.
SWANSEA SUB: Swansea have made no change at the break, bringing on Jonathan de Guzman in place of Nathan Dyer, which is an interesting tactical swap from Laudrup.
KICKOFF: Swansea get us back underway at the Liberty Stadium. Can they claw their way back level in this match?
Shelvey and Gerrard both go into a heavy 50/50 challenge that the former wins. Both boots were quite high, and such is the tendency in football nowadays that I expected one of the players to go down feigning a serious injury. Gerrard and Shelvey aren't the types of players to do that, though.
YELLOW CARD! Moments later we do have out first card of the match as Williams hangs out a leg and then lifts it higher to ensure that Coutinho did not get past. That was a poor challenge, and he can have no complaints at the card.
After a lengthy stoppage for Coutinho to get treatment, Gerrard whips a delivery into a very dangerous area that is well defended, being put behind for a corner. That is also cleared, but Routledge then commits a foul in an almost identical position to the original free kick.
CHANCE! Big chance for Liverpool! Gerrard this time aims his kick towards the far post and somehow Henderson finds himself completely unmarked from close range. He gets his shot all wrong, however, sending it back across goal. Sakho tried to turn it in but it eventually deflected to Wisdom, who bundled it towards the corner where Vorm was on hand to make the save.
LIVERPOOL SUB: Coutinho is still feeling the effects of that Williams tackle and will not be able to continue here. He makes way to be replaced by Iago Aspas.
YELLOW CARDS: A flare-up between Shelvey and Lucas over a perceived lack of sportsmanship from Swansea results in both players being booked. There was a little pushing and shoving and the ref got that one right I think. The former teammates shake hands and all is forgotten.
Another ambitious call from the home fans as Mignolet clatters into Bony having come a long way to claim a high ball. The Liverpool keeper got a good fist to it, but Oliver calls play back when Liverpool were threatening to break as Bony felt the full impact of the Belgian.
It is Skrtel's time to send an under-hit pass back to his keeper this time, but Mignolet is on his toes and gets there just before Michu. Sakho's eventual clearance sends Aspas clear down the left flank, but his cross is well cleared by Williams with Sturridge lurking.
YELLOW CARD! After a quiet first half, Michael Oliver is having to use his cards more often than he'd like at the moment. Jordan Henderson becomes the latest man in the book, and he can have no real complaints with the decision.
Good defending from Williams as he makes another crucial interception to block a goalbound volley from Gerrard. He tries to clear it before it goes out for a corner but slices his volley before finally heading it behind for a corner, which comes to nothing.
GOAL! Swansea 2-2 Liverpool (Michu)
You just can't keep Shelvey out of the action at the moment. He rushes forward into a hole in the Liverpool defence and sends a brilliant knock down to Michu, who sweeps the ball past Mignolet. The Spaniard didn't get all of his shot there, but he got just enough to see it past the Liverpool keeper.
YELLOW CARD! Wisdom goes into a very heavy challenge with Davies with neither pulling out. In truth, it is hard to see who actually wins the ball, but Davies is left in a heap on the floor so Wisdom gets the yellow.
SWANSEA SUB: A change for Swansea as Bony departs due to a minor rib injury that he has picked up. He is replaced by Alejandro Pozuelo.
The ball is swung into Michu, who gets in front of his man but steers his diving header over the top. It was a very tough chance and he did well to even reach the ball, but Michu will have thought that he could get that on target.
LIVERPOOL SUB: This one may have something to do with Wisdom's yellow card he just picked up as he makes way for Kolo Toure.
Swansea have a free kick in a good position here after Lucas brought down De Guzman. Shelvey is the first man on the scene - he is desperate to redeem himself for gifting Liverpool two goals despite already having a goal and an assist to his name.
Shelvey's effort is drilled low and on target, but it is never really troubling Mignolet, who gets down comfortably to make the save.
Swansea are the side turning the screw now. They have enjoyed more of the ball in the last 10 minutes or so and believe that they can go on to win this one now. Michu flashes a volley a few yards wide of the post to further increase the noise levels in the stadium.
Liverpool are really being forced to defend now, they haven't posed an attacking threat in quite a while. Sturridge is looking increasingly isolated up front and that has started happening since Coutinho was forced off to be honest. They are lacking that linking player between the midfield and the attack.
Liverpool's defence, which has been so solid so far this season, has looked a little shaky at times tonight. Sakho and Skrtel don't seem to be on the same page in the middle of the back four, with Sakho often rushing up while Skrtel remains back, leaving the offside line in disarray.
LIVERPOOL SUB: A successful debut for Victor Moses is brought to a premature end as he is replaced by Raheem Sterling for the final 10 minutes or so of this game. Can the Liverpool youngster turn things around for his side here?
A bit of respite for Liverpool comes in the form of a free kick in a good position, won by Sterling. Gerrard has the option to whip it towards the back post hoping for a touch on the way through, but he decides to go for a surprise and shoot towards the near post. He doesn't get his lines right, however, and it ends up over the bar.
Decent half chance for Swansea as a square ball sits up nicely for De Guzman from 25 yards out. He goes for goal first time, but cuts across the ball and leans back to send it over the bar.
Liverpool are starting to press higher up the field now in an effort to win the ball back in more promising positions. Swansea are well versed in passing the ball fluidly, however, and negotiate the blitz defence well.
Rangel shows good strength to hold off the challenge from Sterling before going to ground rather cheaply to buy his side a free kick in a good position. This is around 30 yards out, slightly to the goalkeeper's right.
SAVE! De Guzman goes to the goalkeeper's side and almost catches Mignolet off guard, but the Liverpool man manages to dive to his left to make the save having seen it late.
Liverpool's backs are to the wall right now and you'd think that, as things are going at the moment, Rodgers would be happy enough with a draw. There is likely to be a fair chunk of injury time, though, so there could still be enough time for either side to go on and win this.
Indeed, there is a big chunk of stoppage time as the fourth official signals for five minutes. Time for some late drama?
It's all looking a bit nervy at the back for Liverpool at the moment as Swansea continue to apply the pressure. The Reds just can't seem to get out of their own half at the moment.
Sakho has had a dodgy debut all round, but he makes a vital challenge there. He initially gives the ball away when trying to hold off Michu, but as the Spaniard is bearing down on goal he makes an inch-perfect sliding tackle to dispossess the Swansea man.
Nice build-up play from Swansea in and around the box and the ball eventually comes across to Michu on the edge of the area. He has to take it first time but can't get enough on his effort to trouble Mignolet, who gets down well to make a save to his left.
