Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that midfielder Thiago Alcantara is yet to return to training.
The former Bayern Munich man has seen his maiden season at Anfield plagued by injuries, and Thiago is one of the many Liverpool players who currently occupy a spot in the treatment room during this hectic fixture schedule.
There was previous optimism that Thiago could return to action in Wednesday's Champions League game with Atalanta, but any hopes of the Spain international making his comeback this week have been dashed after Klopp confirmed that he is not ready for team training just yet.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of this week's Champions League action, Klopp said: "Thiago is not in team training yet. When will he be in team training? I don't know. We will see.
"I'm as surprised as the public. In the morning I come in, we have a medical meeting and they tell me 'yes he is in, he is not'. I know it's not too far any more [for Thiago], but I have no idea."
Klopp's midfield options were further depleted in the win over Leicester City, as Naby Keita lasted under an hour of that game before being forced off with a hamstring problem.
