Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Villarreal could line up for Wednesday's Champions League semi-final first leg with Liverpool.

Villarreal manager Unai Emery is expected to make do without star striker Gerard Moreno for the first leg of their Champions League semi-final with Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday night.

The 30-year-old is dealing with a hamstring injury and remains on the sidelines, but he could make his comeback in time for the second leg at La Ceramica.

Left-back Alberto Moreno will also miss out on a reunion with his former club due to a ruptured cruciate ligament, but ex-Arsenal man Francis Coquelin has been training as normal and should be fine to line up in the XI. Attacker Yeremi Pino has picked up a fresh hamstring problem and will miss out, though.

A mixture of youth and experience in the backline will see Pau Torres and Raul Albiol pair up in front of Geronimo Rulli, who has cemented his position as number one ahead of Sergio Asenjo.

Juan Foyth and Pervis Estupinan should occupy the full-back areas for the Yellow Submarine, and Emery has the option of using Alfonso Pedraza further forward to try to quell Mohamed Salah.

Coquelin's return to fitness should see him link up with Dani Parejo and Etienne Capoue in a midfield-heavy formation, with Giovani Lo Celso continuing in his more advanced role.

With Moreno and Pino on the sidelines, Bayern Munich hero Samuel Chukwueze could get the nod to start alongside Arnaut Danjuma, whose 17-minute brace against Valencia at the weekend took him up to 16 goals for the season in all competitions.

Villarreal possible starting lineup: Rulli; Foyth, Albiol, Torres, Estupinan; Parejo, Coquelin, Capoue; Lo Celso; Chukwueze, Danjuma
