Graeme Souness believes that Liverpool will struggle to make the Champions League next season without Luis Suarez.
The striker has admitted that he wants to leave the club despite scoring 30 goals in all competitions in the last campaign for the Reds.
Souness told Sky Sports News: "It is upsetting for Liverpool supporters as he has been a star, his goals have been vital.
"Going forward, they want to get themselves into the Champions League again and that would be doubly difficult if they did not have Luis Suarez."
Suarez's reputation has been marred by incidents on the field, including racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra and biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic.
