Liverpool team news: Injury, suspension list vs. RB Leipzig

Sports Mole rounds up Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Wednesday's Champions League last 16 second leg against RB Leipzig.

Liverpool will hope to put their domestic woes to one side when they take on RB Leipzig at the Puskas Stadium in Budapest for the second leg of their Champions League last-16 clash on Wednesday night.

The six-time kings of Europe go into the second leg with a 2-0 lead from the first, but that was one of few bright points for them in recent weeks.

Jurgen Klopp's side have lost six of their last eight outings across all competitions and have been beaten nine times already this calendar year, leaving their hopes of finishing the job in more jeopardy than they might usually be with such a first-leg lead.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest.

Roberto Firmino

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: March 10 (vs. RB Leipzig)

Roberto Firmino was left out of the squad to face Fulham due to a "minor knock", and was also absent from training ahead of the trip to Budapest, leaving him as a major doubt for this match.

Ozan Kabak

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: March 10 (vs. RB Leipzig)

Ozan Kabak became the latest Liverpool centre-back to be struck down with injury ahead of the weekend defeat to Fulham, but he was back in training on Tuesday and is expected to be in contention at the Puskas Arena.

James Milner

Possible return date: March 10 (vs. RB Leipzig)

James Milner was missing from training on Tuesday, the reason for which was not revealed by Klopp, creating concern over his availability for this match.

Jordan Henderson

Type of injury: Groin
Possible return date: Unknown

Jordan Henderson will not be back until after this month's international break at the very earliest, having undergone surgery on a groin injury he picked up in the Merseyside derby.

Joel Matip

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: Unknown

Joel Matip will not feature again for Liverpool this season after suffering an ankle injury towards the end of January.

Joe Gomez

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Liverpool could also be without Joe Gomez for the remainder of the campaign as he continues his long recovery from a serious knee injury which he sustained while away on international duty.

Virgil van Dijk

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Virgil van Dijk makes it a clean sweep of the three main centre-backs Liverpool began the season with who have since been ruled out for the long term and, while he is now back on the grass and running, he is still unlikely to return again this season.

Caoimhin Kelleher

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Knock
Possible return date: March 10 (vs. RB Leipzig)

Caoimhin Kelleher has been struggling with a knock in recent weeks and remains a doubt heading into this match, although he is not far away from returning to contention.

LIVERPOOL'S SUSPENSION LIST

Liverpool have no players suspended for this game, but James Milner and Georginio Wijnaldum would both miss the next match if they are booked.
