Jack Midson scores twice for Eastleigh in bizarre win over Lincoln City

Two goals from Jack Midson and one each from James Constable and Craig McAllister help Eastleigh beat Lincoln City 4-0 despite missing three penalties.

Two goals from Jack Midson helped sink Lincoln City in a Conference Premier game that saw 4-0 victors Eastleigh miss three penalties.

The first half was a fiery affair as Jon Nolan saw red for a rough challenge, before Delano Sam-Yorke and James Constable were both booked for dissent.

Constable was brought down in the penalty box a few minutes later, but Brian Howard's attempted chip was easily caught by Paul Farman.

Midson's first goal came just before half time as he got on the end of a Jai Reason cross to easily steer the ball past the Lincoln keeper.

Things calmed down in the second half, but Lincoln's defence was still poor as Will Evans's low cross was not dealt with and Constable was in the right place to finish off.

Two minutes later Midson got his second to make it 3-0, with Dan Spence cutting in from the left to pull the ball back across the face of goal, allowing Midson to score in the empty net.

Eastleigh's second penalty came after Evans was fouled in the box, only for Midson to miss a hat-trick opportunity, with Farman pulling off a diving save to his right.

Evans then had his own chance to score from the spot but could only find himself blasting the ball over the bar.

One minute into injury time, substitute Craig McAllister did well to control a Yemi Odubade chip-pass, round the defence and slot the ball into the net to complete a rout which should have been more.
