Claudio Ranieri praises Jamie Vardy assist

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri praises the contribution of Jamie Vardy in the club's 3-0 win over Swansea City last week.

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has lauded Jamie Vardy for his contribution of an assist in last week's 3-0 triumph over Swansea City.

Riyad Mahrez was the hat-trick hero on the day, with Vardy setting up the third as he failed to find the net himself just weeks after setting a new Premier League goalscoring record.

"I've said a lot of times it's not important how we score. It's important the team score. If we can win it's better," Ranieri told the Foxes' official website. "I think it's normal [that Vardy didn't score]. Now he has to grow because [he will have more] responsibility and focus on him.

"[Vardy's assist] is good because I remember when Mahrez gave to him the penalty [against Watford]. Now Vardy could shoot but he passed. When I say there's very good spirit, it's true."

City will go two points clear at the top of the Premier League table tonight if they secure all three points when they welcome champions Chelsea to the King Power.
