Nigel Pearson backs Leicester City to adapt in Premier League

Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson backs his side to cope with Premier League football this season.

Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson believes that his promoted side have the ability to compete in the Premier League.

Last season's Championship title winners have already been installed as one of the favourites to be relegated from the top flight this term.

However, Pearson is confident that his players will cope with the demands of Premier League football.

"I believe we have a squad which is capable of making the transition," he told the Leicester Mercury.

"We are not going to dominate like we did last season - that goes without saying - but there is an air of confidence among the players that they believe they have the ability to perform. I fully agree.

"I have been asked if staying up is just enough, and that has to be the bottom line. I think, more importantly, the players have a belief and the staff have a belief in the players that they are capable."

Leicester last played in the Premier League in the 2003-04 season.
