Maddison is likely to return for Leicester against Watford on Saturday.

Leicester boss Claude Puel insists James Maddison has learned his lesson following his diving dismissal.

The midfielder will return for Saturday's visit of Watford after being sent off against Brighton last week.

He picked up a second booking for simulation in the 1-1 draw – and was banned for Tuesday's Carabao Cup penalty shoot-out win over Southampton.

Maddison apologised on social media and Puel believes the 22-year-old understands what he did wrong.

He said: "Of course it will be a good lesson for him and his team-mates. He was very upset with himself last week.

"It was not the time to discuss it with him but now he wants to put it right this weekend.

"Sometimes a player needs to anticipate a fall but here it was too much."

Leicester sit a place and two points behind the Hornets in the Premier League after just one win in six games.

The Foxes have also only scored once from open play in their last four outings in all competitions and have not won in the Premier League at the King Power Stadium in over two months.

"We need to start faster, to give a good tempo and, with the supporters, put the opponent under pressure," Puel said.

"It's important to correct this to improve and to try to have better results at home. We showed all the quality, sometimes in the second half, away but we need now to perform more at home."

Vicente Iborra is back after an ankle issue but Daniel Amartey (ankle) and Harry Maguire (knee) are missing.

Rachid Ghezzal (leg) has returned to running but remains out until next week while Matty James (Achilles) continues his comeback.

Puel added: "Step by step we will have all the squad available. Matty James played a full game with the under-23s this week and he needs time but it was amazing to see him back on the pitch."
