Chris Wood offered new deal by Leeds United?

Leeds United reportedly decide to offer a new three-year deal to Chris Wood in an attempt to fend off interest in the forward.

Leeds United have reportedly made an attempt to fend off interest in Chris Wood by offering the forward a new three-year contract extension.

After finishing as top goalscorer in the Championship last season, Wood has been linked with a switch to the Premier League with Huddersfield Town and Burnley both said to be keen on his signature.

It has been suggested that the Clarets are willing to spend as much as £20m on Wood but according to Sky Sports News, Leeds do not want to sell their star man.

The New Zealand international still has two years remaining on his existing deal, but it has been claimed that the Yorkshire giants are willing to add another three years to his terms.

That would see the 25-year-old tied down at Elland Road until 2022, and provide Thomas Christiansen and the club's hierarchy with a strong position regarding Wood's future.

The former West Bromwich Albion and Leicester City frontman has netted 44 goals in 88 appearances for Leeds in all competitions.
