Leeds United boss Brian McDermott says that he is in the market for five new players.

Leeds United boss Brian McDermott has revealed that he is hopeful of signing as many as five players before the end of the month.

The former Reading manager, who took charge at Elland Road in April, is widely expected to overhaul his squad this summer.

"On one we've nearly agreed a deal verbally, and if someone agrees a deal with me verbally that means it's done as far as I'm concerned," he told BBC Sport.

"We have a couple of others we've been talking about before, and another two we're talking to as well."

Leeds secured the signing of Matt Smith from Oldham Athletic on Monday.
