Everton announce their second signing of the summer transfer window, confirming that a 27-year-old winger has re-joined the club on loan for the 2024-25 season.

Everton have announced that winger Jack Harrison has re-joined the club on loan from Leeds United for the 2024-25 season.

The 27-year-old returns to Merseyside for the Toffees' last-ever campaign at Goodison Park following a successful season-long loan with Sean Dyche's side in 2023-24.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Leeds' failure to secure promotion back to the Premier League triggered a clause in Harrison's contract allowing him to leave the club again and move to a top-flight team.

Everton have subsequently taken advantage of this clause and opted to re-sign the winger, who chipped in with four goals and three assists in 35 appearances across all competitions last season.

Harrison becomes Everton's second signing of the summer transfer window after midfielder Tim Iroegbunam, who completed his move to Goodison Park from Aston Villa on Saturday for a reported £9m.

Harrison: 'Everton a great place to play football'

Speaking to evertontv about his decision to re-join the club, Harrison said: "It's brilliant to be back. Everton is a great club, there is a fantastic group of lads here and I'm excited to get started again with a full pre-season of training.

"Last year, I had a lot of enjoyment at the club. We had to face a lot of adversity but we were able to continue on and have a good season overall.

"There are a lot of reasons for wanting to return to Everton. I think the club in general - the fans, the staff, the manager, my teammates - everyone made me feel really comfortable right away and that's somewhere you want to be as a player. It's a great place to play football.

"The other thing is I know I have a lot more to offer. That's extra motivation for me to go back and prove to myself and to Everton Football Club that I can do more on the pitch. This season I'll be able to have a full pre-season and hopefully hit the ground running."

Harrison deal a 'priority' for Everton

Everton manager Dyche added: "We're pleased Jack will be returning to our squad and look forward to working with him again.

"He made an important contribution to the progress we made last term, both in terms of our attacking output and the defensive steel throughout the team, while his work ethic and willingness to put in the hard yards matches what we expect from our players."

Director of Football Kevin Thelwell continued: "Bringing Jack back to Everton was one of our priorities this summer so it is a boost to have been able to agree his season-long loan early in the transfer window.

"You saw last season the qualities he brings to our team and the role he played in the strides we made under Sean and his coaching staff.

"Jack was eager to return to Everton, which speaks volumes about how much he enjoys being part of this club, and we are looking forward to him helping us to progress in the season ahead."

Harrison, who helped Everton avoid relegation from the Premier League last season and secure a 15th-placed finish, is currently in Miami doing off-season training, and will soon link up with his Toffees teammates ahead of pre-season next month.
