Coppa Italia roundup: Lazio, Udinese cruise through

Sports Mole rounds up all the action from Sunday's matches in the Coppa Italia.

Antonio di Natale scored five goals as Udinese thrashed Ternana in the Coppa Italia this evening.

The veteran forward opened the scoring inside the first 20 minutes, and completed his hat-trick before half time.

Fabio Ceravolo pulled one back in the first half, but two more efforts late on from Di Natale, including a penalty, ended any hopes of a comeback for the visitors.

Seven second-half goals saw Lazio to a comfortable win over Lega Pro Seconda side Bassano Virtus.

The sides were level at half time following a goalless first half, but Antonio Candreva opened the scoring just seconds after the restart.

Keita Balde finished the game with a brace, while Stefan de Vrij, Marco Parolo, Dusan Basta and Miroslav Klose all found the back of the net before full time.

Hellas Verona needed a strong second half to get past third-tier side Cremonese.

Luca Toni fired the ball in after 50 minutes, before Vangelis Moras and Lazaros Christodoulopoulos both found the target in the space of six minutes to put the win beyond doubt for the hosts.

Citadin Eder scored a hat-trick as Sampdoria cruised past Como.

Eder opened the scoring just seven minutes into the tie, before Manolo Gabbiadini added a second six minutes later.

The visitors had a chance to get back into the tie when Giuseppe Le Noci pulled one back from the penalty spot before the break, but Eder scored twice in the second half to make sure of the win.

A brace from Francesco Tavano helped Empoli to an easy win over L'Aquila.

Simone Verdi broke the deadlock just 10 minutes into the match, before Tavano doubled the lead nine minutes later with a lob in off the crossbar. Tavano then added another 10 minutes from full time.

A first-half goal from Guido Marilungo was enough for Cesena to knock Casertana out of the competition.

The newly-promoted Serie A side dominated the opening half hour before Marilungo headed in from a corner to secure the win.

Earlier, Genoa booked their place in the next round with a 1-0 win over Virtus Lanciano.

Results in full: Virtus Lanciano 0-1 Genoa, Hellas Verona 3-0 Cremonese, Lazio 7-0 Bassano Virtus, Cesena 1-0 Casertano, Empoli 3-0 L'Aquila, Sampdoria 4-1 Como, Udinese 5-1 Ternana
