Juventus see off Udinese to maintain winning start

Carlos Tevez and Claudio Marchisio fire Juventus to a 2-0 victory over Udinese in Serie A.

Serie A champions Juventus have maintained their unbeaten start to the new campaign with a comprehensive 2-0 victory over Udinese.

The hosts were up and running with just eight minutes on the clock when Carlos Tevez fired home after being picked out inside the area.

Roberto Pereyra latched onto a pass before unleashing a strike just short of the half-hour mark, but his effort ended narrowly above the bar as Juventus went in search of a second.

Further chances were few and far between in the closing stages of the first half, with the Old Lady looking largely in command at the break.

Orestis Karnezis needed to pull off a quick save to deny Paul Pogba's strike from a dangerous free kick four minutes after the restart, with the former Manchester United player looking to find the corner.

Igor Bubnjic looked to have levelled the contest up against the run of play, only for his effort to be ruled out for offside.

Tevez was denied his second by Karnezis, who pulled off another great stop with 20 minutes remaining.

Juventus did find a way through moments later, as Tevez picked out Claudio Marchisio to unleash a long-range strike into the bottom corner to secure the victory for Massimiliano Allegri's side.

Juventus join Roma at the top of the early Serie A standings.
