Juventus fans given the chance to decide theme song for goals

Cryptocurrency app to allow its users to vote on which music will be played when Juventus score goals at home.

Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates are set for a new celebration soundtrack – to be voted on by supporters via a cryptocurrency app.

Supporters of the Italian giants will be the first in the world to be able to make club-related decisions via ownership of fan tokens purchased from socios.com. The app also features teams like West Ham, Paris St Germain and Atletico Madrid among its partners.

The tokens allow supporters a say in decisions taken at their clubs, and they will now be calling the tune for Ronaldo and co.

For the last eight years Juventus' home goals have been greeted by 'Chelsea Dagger' by The Fratellis but when the first goal of 2020 is scored at the Allianz Stadium, a new song will be played based on the results of the socios.com poll.

The tracks in the running are 'All The Small Things' by Blink 182, 'Song 2' by Blur, 'Jump Around' by House of Pain and 'Boom' by P.O.D.

Socios founder Alexandre Dreyfus said: "The goal celebration song is integral to the matchday experience. For eight years, Juventus fans watching the games live at the Allianz Stadium and following the action around the world, have celebrated to the same tune. Now they have the opportunity to choose the next crowd anthem.

"When Juventus fans decide on the new goal celebration song, they will make history by becoming the first supporters of any team to take part in the club-decision making process through fan tokens. That makes us incredibly proud."

Some tokens have been available to Juventus fans who have been signed up to the app via an augmented reality 'token hunt' since November, but the main 'fan token offering' was launched on Tuesday morning. In total, 20million fan tokens will be available for purchase and trading, with the price starting at two euros per token.
