Giampiero Ventura announced as Italy's new head coach

Giampiero Ventura is announced as Italy's new head coach and will replace Antonio Conte after Euro 2016.

Giampiero Ventura has been announced as Italy's new head coach, replacing Antonio Conte.

The 68-year-old, who left Torino in May following a five-year spell in charge, is believed to have signed a two-year deal..

Ventura has been widely linked to Conte's role in recent weeks, and now the Azzurri's official Twitter page has confirmed the appointment.

Italy have been hunting for a new coach since Conte announced in March that he would close the door on a two-year stint in order to take charge at Chelsea.

The 46-year-old will oversee the national side's Euro 2016 campaign, which includes group matches against Belgium, Sweden and the Republic of Ireland.
