Report: Sheffield Wednesday make Daryl Murphy bid

Ipswich Town reportedly receive a £4.25m offer from Sheffield Wednesday for last season's leading goalscorer Daryl Murphy.

Sheffield Wednesday have reportedly entered the race to sign Ipswich Town striker Daryl Murphy.

The Republic of Ireland international, who scored 27 Championship goals last term, has just 12 months left to run on his contract at Portman Road.

Fellow Championship side Middlesbrough have been credited with an interest in the 32-year-old's services, but according to the Daily Mail, they will now face competition for his signature from Wednesday.

The report adds that the Owls had lodged a £4.25m bid, although recent speculation has suggested that Ipswich have placed a £5m price tag on the centre-forward.

Ipswich's local rivals Norwich City are also said to have been monitoring Murphy's situation in Suffolk.
