Ipswich Town re-sign Jonny Williams

Ipswich Town re-sign Welsh midfielder Jonny Williams on a season-long loan from Crystal Palace.

Ipswich Town have re-signed midfielder Jonny Williams on a season-long loan from Crystal Palace.

The 22-year-old begins his fourth loan spell with Mick McCarthy's side in two years, having also spent time with Nottingham Forest and MK Dons.

The Wales international is currently recovering from a groin injury but hopes to be back in contention in early October.

"I got caught with a bad tackle in our last pre-season game but I'm three weeks down the line now and I'm running okay now. Hopefully I'll be back before the international break in October," Williams told the club's official website.

"With no loans after today, we had to get it done now and when I knew Ipswich wanted me, it was a no-brainer. I've had some great times at Ipswich and played some of the best football of my career here, especially in the first spell I had.

"TC (Terry Connor) and the manager know how to get the best out of me. They have shown faith in me. I want to repay them for that. I feel loved here and that is one of the main reasons I've come back. I can still remember the fans' reaction when I made my debut at Yeovil and it carried on from there. Their support is a massive part of me coming here again.

Williams is McCarthy's third signing in the space of 24 hours following the double capture of Leon Best and Tom Lawrence on Tuesday.
